Who would be the audience for your media product?
The usual
target audiences of thriller movies are adults due to content such as violence
and psychological issues. Both of these make the genre unsuitable for younger
viewers as they can be intellectually demanding. However, many sub-genres of
the thriller genre all have different target audiences. As my own opening
sequence falls under the sub-genre of a romantic thriller, my target audience
fits the general age group in which is usually associated with the sub-genre.
Romantic thrillers are aimed mostly at females and adolescents due to the
romantic nature of the films alongside the confusing and dark themes included within
the plots. The content of the films may also be unsuitable to younger viewers
as they wouldn’t be able to understand the storylines.
My audience
fits the general target audience of romantic thrillers perfectly. My thriller
opening sequence is aimed at adolescents, mainly female due to the romantic
nature. However, male teenagers will also be interested within the film due to
the strong thriller feel to the sequence.
